The closest village (5 miles away) situated on the Great Ouse river, has a collection of eclectic village shops, Co-Op (open 7am-10pm 7 days/week), library, numerous takeaways and a handful of public houses. Main line railway station with a direct connection every hour to London, Cambridge and Kings Lynn.
Ely
Large cathedral city (10 miles away) situated on the Great Ouse river, with daily market and a plethora of charity shops, gift shops and tea rooms. Ely is home to one of the oldest cathedrals in the country and Oliver Cromwell’s house. A large mainline railway interchange with connections to stations all over the country. Shopping precinct with Waitrose food store and large Tesco’s by the Ely station.
Cambridge
Home to one of the leading universities in the world (25 miles away). A city bursting with history, academia and punting. Colleges are open to the public, large shopping centres to peruse, department stores, theatres and culture. Easily drivable from Scotland farmhouse but why not take the train from Littleport (20 mins) straight into the centre, missing the traffic.
Welney
(9 miles away) Famous for its wildfowl and wetlands centre. If feeling energetic a good cross country walk.
Denver Sluice / Downham Market
Denver sluice is an engineering feat (9 miles away) controls all the water levels throughout the fenlands. Very popular tourist attraction! Whilst in the vicinity you can visit Downham Market, a small market town with some historic buildings.
